Scheduling as a fuzzy multiple criteria optimization problem
نویسنده
چکیده
Real-world scheduling is decision making under vague constraints of diierent importance, often using uncertain data, where compromises between antagonistic criteria are allowed. We explain in theory and by detailed examples a new combination of fuzzy set based constraints and repair based heuristics that help to model these scheduling problems. We simplify the mathematics needed for a method of eliciting the criteria's importances from human experts. We introduce a new consistency test for connguration changes. This test also helps to evaluate the sensitivity to connguration changes. We describe the implementation of these concepts in our fuzzy constraint library ConFLIP++ and in our heuristic repair library D ejj aVu. Finally, we present results from scheduling a continuous caster unit in a steel plant.

A Mathematical Model for a Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Fuzzy Processing Times
This paper presents a mathematical model for a flow shop scheduling problem consisting of m machine and n jobs with fuzzy processing times that can be estimated as independent stochastic or fuzzy numbers. In the traditional flow shop scheduling problem, the typical objective is to minimize the makespan). However,, two significant criteria for each schedule in stochastic models are: expectable m...
متن کاملA Possibility Linear Programming Approach to Solve a Fuzzy Single Machine Scheduling Problem
This paper employs an interactive possibility linear programming approach to solve a single machine scheduling problem with imprecise processing times, due dates, as well as earliness and tardiness penalties of jobs. The proposed approach is based on a strategy of minimizing the most possible value of the imprecise total costs, maximizing the possibility of obtaining a lower total costs, and mi...

Job shop scheduling considers jobs distribution between processing machines such that jobs to be done in the minimum time as possible. In this problem such factors as the activities processing time and due date for delivering jobs are defined ambiguously for analyst. In these situations, it seems that it is necessary to use fuzzy parameters and multiple goals on the basis of fuzzy knowledge, wh...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Scheduling Problem with Dynamic Job Priorities and an Extension to Multiple Criteria
In real world scheduling problems, priorities of jobs may change over time. A less important job today may be of high importance tomorrow and vice versa. Another important aspect of decision making in manufacturing environments is often the impreciseness of the problem definition, comprising both the available data and the knowledge about the preference structure of the decision maker. The pape...
متن کاملBi-criteria Scheduling on Parallel Machines Under Fuzzy Processing Time
Job scheduling is concerned with the optimal allocation of scare resources with objective of optimising one or several criteria. Job scheduling has been a fruitful area of research for many decades in which scheduling resolve both allocation of machines and order of processing. If the jobs are scheduled properly, not only the time is saved but also efficiency of system is increased. The paralle...
